Ricoh UK Ltd is a major subsidiary of the global Ricoh Group, a Japanese multinational technology company. As part of its digital workplace transformation, Ricoh is expanding its core print heritage to include cloud, IT infrastructure, and workplace technology solutions. This shift, combined with significant new entrant competition, has led to a need for changes to its operating model.

At the same time, Ricoh is integrating acquired businesses such as Pure AV as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its workplace and digital services capabilities. This period of growth and transformation has created a need for additional expertise to support integration and organisational change.

The solution

Right Management worked as an integrated part of the Ricoh team and delivered support in four phases:

Phase 1: We worked with Ricoh’s change team to build alignment and prepare for the announcement of the new operating model. This created a shared understanding of both the operational and human impact of the change, helping leaders communicate with clarity and empathy.

Phase 2: We then engaged directly with Ricoh’s UK board in preparing for the announcement and agreeing what success would look like. This ensured that leadership messaging was consistent, visible and grounded in a common vision.

Phase 3: As the restructure progressed, some colleagues were affected by redundancy. Right Management provided comprehensive outplacement support, offering personalised, unlimited career coaching, access to learning resources and tools for successful transitions.

Phase 4: The core of the programme has focussed on building organisational change capability. Designed for the 60 leaders reporting into the board, ‘Catalyst’ kicked off In July 2025 and equips those delivering the new operating model with the capability and confidence to lead change.

The Catalyst programme has been delivered in a series of sprints covering ten core change leadership topics. Each sprint is closely aligned to business activity at that time, allowing leaders to apply their learning immediately to live challenges.

The impact

  • 71% of participants say Catalyst has made them more confident in their leadership capabilities
  • 74% of participants say their learning has helped them overcome daily leadership challenges more effectively
  • +7% both manager and employee engagement has increased by at least 7 percentage points despite navigating a period of change

“This was tailored to what we needed at Ricoh and more importantly, what our leaders needed. It never felt like we had another organisation sat at the table, we felt like one team. And we’re now using the foundations of Catalyst to inform and empower our managers for the future.”
