Case Study: Human-centric on-site Outplacement support​

As a result of changes in government legislation requirements, a consumer goods organisation had to close its manufacturing facility. This meant employees were put at risk of redundancy; many of whom had long tenures with the business.

The client understood the change would place emotional strain on their people and the local communities each site was connected to, and so opted to provide on-site outplacement support. This was to ensure the support could flex around conflicting shift patterns – meaning everyone could access their programme at a time that worked for them, without impacting productivity.

The solution

Right Management have since assisted the organisation’s employees in their career transitions through various programmes, all of which included:

  • Employee briefing sessions: Providing an overview of services and an introduction to Right Management.
  • One-day Career Transition Workshops: Interactive sessions focused on managing transitions; identifying strengths and career objectives; CV writing; networking strategies; interview preparation and job offer evaluations.
  • 1:1 diagnostic sessions and Career Coaching: Providing support with job applications, interview practice, retirement planning, self-employment advice, career assessments, and upskilling.
  • On-site career fairs and dedicated Job Search consultant: A local careers fair was organised to help those affected by the site closure connect with local businesses and job opportunities. 18 employers attended, alongside recruiters, local education providers and government support. Employees also received weekly job vacancy lists tailored to their individual preferences to support with their job search.
  • Lifestyle & retirement workshop: For those looking to enter the next stage of their lives.
  • Careers support centre: Set up on-site for all staff to visit, with a Right Management consultant available one day a week for drop-in sessions, a job vacancies board, and access to NEXT; acting as a one-stop-shop for all affected employees.

 

The impact

  • 97% satisfaction score from all attendees of workshops and career fairs
  • 71% of employees have secured their next career move prior to total project completion
